Appraisal Template Settings
What is Appraisal Templates in Zoho People?
Create appraisal templates to define a appraisal process that can include or exclude certain aspects such as self appraisal, normalization and salary hikes as part of the appraisal process. The templates created can be used when adding appraisal cycles in Operations (Operations > Appraisal Cycle tab). The steps and configuration available when adding an appraisal cycle will vary based on which template is applied.
Creating an Appraisal Template

To view the created appraisal templates, navigate to Settings > Performance > Configuration > Appraisal Template tab.
You have options to
View Details or
Edit an existing template here. The ellipses icon (

) has options to disable or delete templates.
- To create a new template from scratch click Create Appraisal Template.
- Enter the template name and add a description if required.
- Include Self Appraisal if required.
- Include Normalization and Salary hike if required. For this example, only Normalization is enabled.
- Click Create Appraisal Template to proceed to further steps.

- Now configure the template as required, the Self Appraisal tab lets tou configure the quantitative and qualitative paramters of the self review.
You also have options to preview (eye icon) or to customize the self appraisal form (conroller icon on the top-right).
You can enable or disable KRA, Goals, Competency to include or exclude these paramters as part of the self review.

- Once configured, Proceed to Manager Review section by clicking Next. Configure both quantitative and qualitative paramterers here too. You also have options to configure multiple manager review levels, view preview, or customize the performance appraisal form from here.

- Proceed to Ratings section by clicking Next, here you can configure the rating type, the associated range, module weight, and additional tweaking via the options listed under "Additional Options". Click Next to proceed to Normalization section.

- The normalization tab lets you define the ideal rating destribution in the organization. Click here to learn more about normalization.

- Finally proceed to the Publish Configuration tab, here you can choose if the review is to be published manually or automatically on completion. Also specify what should be shared to employees, and add any other roles here to allow them to share the results as well. Enable feedback sharing if required. Click Submit to save this Appraisal template.

Using an Appraisal Template
To use an appraisal template, Navigate to
Operations >
Performance >
Appraisal >
Add Appraisal Cycle. You will be prompted to apply one of the created appraisal templates. In addition to what was configured during the appraisal template creation process, you can also configure Applicability and Period Configuration when creating an appraisal cycle.
